A waterpump for a 7L deisel engine application has inspired this study. The baseline design fits between the gear cover on the front of the engine and the radiator fan, a rather narrow space.
After looking at results for Volute A we decided that it was too large radially. We deleted the part of the volute that was not being used. This created a volute that bounded the strong flow of the Volute A case. We also use the same smooth connection to the outlet duct as in the Volute A case.
The point of this case is to see if flow results from a previous case
can be used to find an improved design. This case ahd the further advantage
of being compact compared to both Volute A and Volute C. The inlet housing,
impeller, and outlet duct portions of this case are identical to the Baseline
case.
